As the nation celebrates Children’s Day in honor of Jawaharlal Nehru’s legacy of cherishing youth, Nivedita Basu shared about her own childhood memories, her journey into media, and her advice for the next generation.

Reminiscing about her school days, Nivedita shared, "For us, Children’s Day meant hearing stories of Chacha Nehru and receiving sweets. We were so focused on education that media wasn’t on our radar at all." Reflecting on how her journey into media was never planned, she adds, "For us, entering media wasn’t even a consideration. But life has a way of guiding us, and looking back, I'm thankful to have found my way into this world. It feels like destiny led me here.” The discipline instilled by her parents has been a guiding force in Nivedita’s life. "My father was strict about even the smallest things, and at the time, I didn’t appreciate it. But now I understand how crucial that discipline was. It’s made me the person I am today," she shares. "I hope my own kids carry forward that same sense of discipline and resilience." Nivedita Basu's Birthday Wish Happiness, Health, Harmony

Nivedita acknowledges the changing times, saying, "Today, children have so much media exposure. They often think independently, whereas we followed what our parents said. But despite this shift, I believe the core values we instill in them still matter." When asked about children pursuing careers in different fields, Nivedita is supportive but grounded. "Children should have the freedom to explore their passions, whether it’s acting, music, or art. However, it’s essential to guide them and ensure they’re making choices thoughtfully," she explains. "Whatever path they choose, I believe they should strive to be the best in that field." Reflecting on the core lessons of her childhood, Nivedita highlights humility and discipline. "Wherever life takes me, humility is something I hold close to my heart and will never leave ," she says.

Reflecting on her own growth, Nivedita shares, "I wish I could have been more calmer, maybe through practices like yoga or meditation. Back then, mental health wasn't a topic we discussed, and yoga wasn't part of our curriculum. Today, I recognize the value of those practices for inner calm, and I think they’re so important for young people."
